Is it a conspiracy to keep you working?

I’ve never been big on debt.

But I’ve had little choice for those ‘big’ purchases.

The problem is…it relentlessly demands repayment...

Every month I’m reminded of my obligations…the commitment my bank account has to fulfill…

Is it some kind of conspiracy to keep us working, I wonder?

It's about compromise...

To be fair there's another side to debt...it's not all bad.

Debt is our leverage on the future...it enables us to get ahead of ourselves...to own something before we have the money to pay for it…

What we don’t take into account is debt payments limit our options in the short term...until it’s paid back. That’s the compromise we make.

Life's luxuries...

It starts with the student loan...closely followed by your first credit card, after all there are expensive textbooks to be paid for...not to worry, the card will take care of that.

Then we do what we’re put on Earth to do...we fall in love, get married, have children. Now we need a home...do we qualify for a mortgage?

We squeak by…suddenly we’re in debt for most of the rest of our life.

There’s more. You deserve a vacation from the hurly-burly, and the stress of mounting debt…put it on the plastic.

Then there are life’s little luxuries, you know, stuff…put that on a card too, why not…once you’re in debt what’s one more? Sound familiar?

A cunning plan...

Debt soon begins to feel like a cunning plan, but I’m not sure who the mastermind is behind it…

Once upon a time we aspired to what the history books call the 'American dream'…but despite its potential it feels like its morphed into the dream of getting out of debt.

The world has so much to offer…and yet so many things feel beyond our reach…

Be the change...

We need to be our own mastermind...do what others won’t.

Join together…create change…be the change. Create our own economy. Yes!

Scary?

No more scary than debt.
