Are you searching for that feeling?

It’s the end of the day…you turn out the light.

In that moment before sleep, what goes through your mind?

Do you reflect on the day? The things you did, or didn’t do…having a to-do list longer than it was?

Is this when you realize you didn’t get to the ‘important things’…minutia having taken over…the unexpected, things not going as planned…interruptions ad nauseam.

What are those ‘important things’ that inevitably end up on the back-burner?

Things that don’t have an easy answer, usually…you put them out of your mind, mumble to yourself: “One day.”

Know yourself...

I struggled with a career that left me staring out the window a lot.  The sub-text being: Is this it? The answer was ‘yes’, if I wanted to make a living…

These nagging thoughts, my dissatisfaction…would eventually end in a change…I recognized the symptoms…when, from what to what, how…were merely details.

Knowing myself...I knew when the pain of not doing something surpasses the pain of doing it…that’s when I usually take action.

Action was in my future, I was already there in my mind, I was comfortable with the idea of change… after all, it had been buzzing around in my head for some time.…

…details were a bit sketchy…no matter, it was more important to take action than to wait for a clear plan to emerge…it may never happen.

Searching for a feeling…

It occurred to me ‘important things’ were rarely physical things, the material kind…once you have life’s basics, that’s it…yes, they wear out, yes, they go out of fashion, yes, marketers are very tenacious…

What I was searching for was a feeling…it would be easy to call it ‘happiness’, but it was deeper than that…it was more to do with a feeling of contentment…not wanting, not striving…just being, no guilt…

The kind of feeling you get when a plane lands after a long flight…you’ve arrived, you’re there…the adventure begins…that’s the feeling I wanted.

You decide…

A simple ask, really…not out of reach for most of us…

It doesn’t require an exchange of money, you don’t even have to leave the house…you just have to decide.

Is it time to put something on the ‘front-burner’ for a change?
